Bronlynn will tell us her story and answer questions from our moderator. A portion of your donation goes to non-profits that positively impact the lives of women in our community.  \nAn email containing a private Zoom link and a PDF copy of Bronlynn’s full bio will be sent to all registrants on Tuesday evening\, October 17th. \n\n\n\nB﻿ronlynn Thurman \nBronlynn Thurman is a creative and nonprofit professional in the Akron area. In 2016\, she joined the GAR Foundation team\, spending the last several years focusing her efforts on equitable community development\, small business\, and arts in education as a program officer for the foundation. Prior to going full-time with GAR\, Bronlynn worked as a program associate for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation in Akron. In 2021\, Bronlynn co-founded Black Women Explore\, a Northeast Ohio outdoor recreation group for Black\, Brown\, Asian\, and other women and femme-identifying folks of color. \nAn Akron native\, Bronlynn serves on several area boards and committees\, including the Akron Black Artist Guild; Akron Civic Commons core team; City of Akron’s Planning Commission; the marketing committee for the Fund for Our Economic Future; Akron’s Bicentennial Commission; and the Elevate Greater Akron working group\, Spark Akron strategy group\, and Refocus on Downtown strategy group.  \nBronlynn earned her B.S. in Advertising and M.S. in Information Architecture and Knowledge Management – UXD from Kent State University. In 2019\, she was selected as a Greater Akron Chamber 30 For the Future award recipient and in 2021\, was named the Community Member of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers Ohio Chapter Region II. Most recently\, Bronlynn was a 2021-22 Ashé Fellow in Big Picture Learning’s inaugural Ashé Leaders Fellowship program\, a national fellowship focused on supporting the development of leaders as they seek to transform systems in their communities. In her free time\, Bronlynn is often on her bike cycling around the area or hosting her book club\, the Coffee and Cocktails Book Club.

SUMMARY:Q&A With an Emerging Leader: Gia Bell
DESCRIPTION:**  ONLINE EVENT  **\n\n\nJoin ATHENA Akron virtually via Zoom as we welcome Gia Bell\, Chief Program Officer\, JRC (JRCcares.org). Gia will tell us her story and answer questions from our moderator. Chat will be open for questions from our attendees.  \nCost:  There is no charge for this program; however\, donations are welcome. A portion of your donation goes to non-profits that positively impact the lives of women in our community.  \nAn email containing a private Zoom link and a PDF copy of Gia’s full bio will be sent to all registrants on Tuesday evening\, July 25th. \n\n\n\nG﻿ia Bell \nGia D. Bell is both a passionate and servant leader\, who is frequently called upon for her advocacy for Autism and underrepresented populations. She leads mainly by example\, always doing her best and encouraging others to do the same. Gia is the recipient of Women’s Network Leadership Institute Laura Allio Emerging Leaders award at the Greater Akron Chamber. She was also the recipient of the 30 For the Future Award through the Young Professional Network.  \nGia has received Congressional Recognition from her work on Autism. She led the project at Cleveland Clinic Akron General to designate Cleveland Clinic the first Adult Autism Friendly Hospitals in the nation. Gia graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She is currently the Chief Program Officer at a Social Service Organization.  \nGia serves on the board at the United Way of Summit and Medina County\, Women’s Network Leadership Institute Leadership Council\, and Ohio Gap Closers. She is a member of the Torchbearers Akron’s Class of 2020. She is a graduate of the Leadership Akron Signature Program Class 39. She is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Zeta Theta Omega Chapter\, ATHENA Akron\, Change Direction Committee\, the Greater Akron Chamber\, and the Women’s Research Council.

Recently\, EbaNee received the 2022 University of Akron 5 Under 35 Award\, made the front page of The Akron Beacon Journal as a Change Maker\, graduated as a fellow from Futuro Media Group’s Podcast Lab for journalists\, received the Women’s Network Impacting Change Award\, and the 2020 Greater Akron Chamber’s 30 For the Future Award. \n\n\n\nEbaNee helps bring alignment to individuals and groups by facilitating conversations\, engagement\, learning\, and group decision making. She has been a Program Facilitator for various entrepreneurship workshops and accelerator programs and as a Host of the Diverse Engineering Podcast. \n\n\n\nAs a rhetorician\, she has showcased her words at various poetry shows and an even performs at events when people want to add flair to the evening. EbaNee has also given public speeches on a range of topics\, including creativity and innovation\, creating success in school\, why caring is a competitive advantage\, and how busy people who feel disconnected can feel more connected. \n\n\n\nAs a startup strategist\, EbaNee enjoys helping entrepreneurs who care about making a difference in their industry or in the lives of others. EbaNee has coached over 150 entrepreneurs\, from those who have brick and mortar businesses to those with highly advanced technology and scientific research they are looking to commercialize. \n\n\n\nEbaNee earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a certificate in Professional Sales Engineering from Thee Notable University of Akron and has graduated from various local leadership and development programs.
