About ATHENA International™
ATHENA International™ is a nonprofit organization that supports, honors and develops women leaders. The organization partners with local communities to honor and recognize outstanding individuals who assist women to achieve their full leadership potential. Since 1982, more than 7,000 leaders have been recognized. The organization has a variety of programs for women leaders and has a special program that “links” women business owners with a board of professional advisors and a program that connects established women leaders with emerging leaders.
PURPOSE & MISSION
ATHENA International™, headquartered in Chicago, is a nonprofit organization that partners with host organizations that implement ATHENA programs.
The mission is to support, honor and develop women leaders, and inspire women to reach their full potential. ATHENA International™ achieves its mission through programs including the ATHENA Award Program®, ATHENAPowerLink®, ATHENA Connections, ATHENA Leadership Circle, ATHENA International Leadership Conferences, ATHENA Women’s Leadership Day celebration events, and the ATHENA Leadership Forum.
ATHENA programs are hosted in over 500 cities and 9 countries.
ATHENA Leadership Award Program was developed to honor exceptional women leaders who demonstrate the highest levels of professional excellence, give back to their communities, and most importantly, assist other women in realizing their full leadership potential.
ATHENA has expanded the award programs to include the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award and the ATHENA Organizational Award to recognize emerging leaders and organizations that value ATHENA International’s mission.
Since 1982, more than 7,000 exemplary leaders have been honored as recipients with the prestigious ATHENA International Leadership Awards and over 100,000 people have attended local ATHENA events.
ATHENAPowerLink® is a business advisory program, currently active in 30 cities, that “links” women-owned businesses with a board of professional advisors for one year to achieve the goals she has identified for her business.
The ATHENA Women’s Leadership Day Luncheon is an annual event held in September with the purpose of connecting established women leaders with emerging leaders and equipping them with support, connections and community.
